A Lesson in Getting What you Need

This is a good one! The big lesson I learned a couple weeks ago.

29 It me! ⁣
⁣
High school and college can be a huge transition and having someone to chat with can make some of life’s more confusing moments bearable! The foundation for all my work is to help girls feel happy, confident, and love who they are. ⁣
⁣
Going to college changes everything from where you live, the friends you hang out with, the classes you take, even to what you eat. If you’re stressed, wanting guidance on friendship, learning how to navigate roommates, trying to get to know yourself on a college campus, or burnt out by social media, I’m here for you! ⁣
⁣
Your own friends are always there to listen, but a mentoring session allows you to be heard and counseled in a way that is very much tailored to you! Info on your first session in my bio ✨
38 If I love you, I’m gonna wanna tell you #wordsofaffirmation (and I use Valentine’s Day as the perfect excuse to go big with all the ❤️ I have in my life)! I made these prompts for the party I threw over the weekend and they were a big hit!
29 This idea has been with me all week and I hear it from my students too. My only advice is to move towards what you want with small right actions. ❤️
40 My sweet friend @erinrdoppelt had me on her podcast where I talked about being a professional big sister, how I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and the value of being authentic. Had lots of fun and got personal about dance, my practices, and my friend group! Check it out at @wisewomanpodcast and leave a comment on iTunes if you dig it! ❤️
66 "I think the greatest act of vulnerability is just to be real, to be authentic. It's to be honest about who you are with people you care about. I don't believe in vulnerability for vulnerability's sake. We share our stories and our struggles with people who've earned the right to hear them. We share our stories with people with whom we’re in relationships with that can bear the weight of the story." @brenebrown ⁣

I listened to an interview with Queen Brene this week and as always, it was so good! Thank God for #mentors!! 📸 by @maja_bee. I am also staring adoringly at @leshon playing with a puppy.
38 what I like this week: ⁣
⁣
efforting: ⁣
⁣
Since my last post on the theme "adore," I've been thinking about EFFORT. Am I putting effort into relationships that put the same effort into me? What sort of effort am I giving to the things that I **actually want**? What does equal friendship/partnership look like? What am I giving my precious time and energy to? Feel free to share thoughts!!⁣
⁣
insight timer: ⁣
⁣
This free meditation app has a bunch of different guided meditations to chose from, but I've been doing ones on connecting to your intuition. It also tracks how many days in a row you do it, which I like. ⁣
⁣
schitt’s creek:⁣
⁣
There's not an episode that I don't like. I laugh through it all. Also go to listen to @olreid’s cover of Simply the Best... super swoon worthy. ⁣
⁣
Have a great weekend!!
45 Vent sessions avail for anything that makes you think “ew” like getting back into having homework after a long break. Link in bio to schedule your chat ✨
26 Every few months, I feel like a word comes up over and over again until it reoccurs itself into a theme. For awhile it was NOURISH, but this week a new word got my attention when I noticed that all the songs I've been listening to had the word ADORE in it. Boom new theme: Whom and what do I adore? Do the people I respect, respect me back? How do I show myself that I honor myself? How do I show love for those I adore in my life? Love can be weird, hard, easy, fast, slow, big, small, up, down. Whom/what do you adore?
101 I can’t remember what we are laughing at, but I dig it ✨
62 I was in a meeting recently where someone asked me what schools the girls I mentor go to and it took me a second to list them all out. I’m so impressed by the sweet smarties that I get to work with. Link in bio for sessions!
33 Sweet Start to 2019 ⁣
⁣
I’ve been on a wild purging frenzy over the last two weeks and the more I let go of things I don’t need, the better I feel. Just some Sunday encouragement if you’re in the mood to clear (physical or emotional) space ✨⁣
⁣
** I made these brown butter Rice Krispie treats on NYE and they were delicious if you’re more into that kind of #selfcare vibe today
43 Being home for break can be a lot of different things. Some fun; some not so fun. I am also not a fan of the build up to New Year’s Eve so if you’re sweating what your plans are just know that wherever you end up is exactly where you were meant to be. Use break to recharge, get grounded, and take good self-care ✨Want to chat more? Link in bio for sessions 🌟
