Many of my students have come to me with summer body stress and I’ve been mentoring girls towards creating HAPPY habits. Happiness is a choice and defaulting to self-love and acceptance takes practice, especially when it comes to loving what you look like. You were given your body to share your gifts; not as a vehicle to beat yourself up. Whether you’re aware of it or not, we’ve all created body habits that we do without even being mindful if they’re helping us or holding us back. How to Handle Criticism

Not everyone is going to like you or the things you do. This is a tough lesson, especially for me! When someone has a negative opinion it can hurt. I’ve definitely spent my fair share of time being upset over it. Criticism is unavoidable, but it can be a great way to get to know yourself better. Why We Need to Celebrate the Average Day

Happy holidays, Modern Mentees! What are you going to be up to? I’m excited to hang with my family, eat delicious food, catch up on sleep… and Netflix! I find, especially during the holidays, that we’re so so so busy and looking forward to lots of things that we totally forget the present moment. Healthy Pumpkin Mug Cake

I’m obsessed with this recipe not only because it’s super delicious, but because it’s a single serving. Sometimes when I make cookies I end up eating more than I’d actually like. This is great because it’s quick and preeeetty healthy. #ModernMentor me in your photos if you try it out!

Recipe adapted from Delighted Momma

What you will need:

3 tbs of almond meal
2 tbs of coconut oil
1 egg
1/2 cup of organic pumpkin puree
1 tsp of pumpkin spice
1 tbs of honey
1 tsp of vanilla extract
A dash of salt
1/2 tsp of baking powder
Handful of dark chocolate chips

Mix everything well in a separate bowl. Pour into a microwave safe mug or baking dish.

Put in the microwave for 4 minutes or until a tooth pick comes out clean. I also added a scoop of pumpkin ice cream ENJOY!!!
